Introduction to the Blogger

Hello everybody, my name is Hayden Spielman and I am the author of this great blog. I have spent my entire life in the amazing city of Fort Worth, Texas where I was born and raised. Fort Worth is a wonderful place and I would not want to live anywhere else. I am a junior majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship with hopes of working in real estate later in life. I am interested in working in real estate because I think it is one of the few careers that offers a fair amount of freedom and activity beyond just working on a computer all day. I really enjoy being active so I would never be able to have a job that kept me in an office all day every day. My favorite hobbies are hunting and fishing, specifically duck hunting and fly fishing. This summer I took an amazing trip to Colorado and fly fished the Colorado River for a few days and I had a blast. Another thing that I really enjoy is playing golf. I am an extremely average golfer but even on my worst day on the course there aren’t many things that I would rather be doing. My favorite movies by far are the Indiana Jones movies (the first three when Indy was young and cool, the newer one where he is old doesn’t do the series justice). I also enjoy the movie Step Brothers and the TV show Friends which is always my go-to if it is on. The last and most important thing I’d like to share about myself is that I have a dog named Duke. He is a German Shorthaired Pointer and I love him. He is in Fort Worth living with my brother at the moment because I can’t have a dog at my house in Norman. That pretty much sums up my life, I hope you enjoy my blog for the upcoming year.

  1. I am a big fan of Fort Worth, Hayden! My dad lives in Austin, and sometimes we meet up in Fort Worth to enjoy the museums there: I really like the Kimball Art Museum, and he loves the Amon Carter! And there is clearly a golfing theme emerging here in this class: Blaine is on the golf team, Brooks is a serious golfer, and now you. That's makes 10% of the class (3 out of 30)... and maybe I will even find some more golfers as I make my way through the Introductions! Now if all of you do golf-themed projects for class, then it would really be the semester of golfing in Indian Epics!

  2. Hi Hayden! I love Fort Worth, that's currently where my boyfriend is living now that he's graduated and has a big boy job. Theres so many things to do, and Sundance Square is a fun area we both really like going to. I'm also a HUGE fan of the Indiana Jones movies they just have everything a good movie should have, and I agree the newest one did not the series justice but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

  3. Hi there Hayden!! It is so great to meet you! I actually have family in Fort Worth and visit them ever so often. It's definitely a great place! That's awesome that you want to work in real estate, I've always thought about that path, but I'm not so great at selling places haha. I love watching movies, but surprisingly enough, I haven't watched all of the Indiana Jones movies. I should try it out whenever I get a chance. Your dog sounds adorable! I have a corgi and he is my world! I'm sure it's tough not getting to have him live with you, I know I would hate it. I'm looking forward to revisiting your blog down the road, good luck this semester!

  4. Hey Hayden!

Just like all the other comments, Fort Worth is one of my favorite cities. I grew up in Wichita Falls (a small town northwest of Fort Worth), so we drove down to that area so many times for concerts, shopping, and other fun things. My favorite radio station is broadcasted in Fort Worth right on Sundance Square: 95.9 The Ranch. As for your hobbies, they are so similar to mine. I go hunting with my dad and grandad each dove season out on our ranch, so I definitely relate to your blog post. Have a great year, and I'm sure we will be in contact again through the course of this semester!

  5. Hey Hayden!
Real Estate is a career that gives you a lot of freedom to work when and where you want to, which would be awesome!
Ahhh, Fort Worth. I'm definitely a big fan of Fort Worth, as I grew up around the Mckinney area (so not far from Fort Worth)! I go to Fort Worth several times a year whether it's for Billy Bobs or the Fort Worth Stockshow and Rodeo. I actually want to go to Pharmacy school in Fort Worth, so I agree it's a wonderful place to live.
I also love the outdoors and fishing is a must!
    Good luck in your future!

  6. Sup Spielman,
Great intro blog post, I loved reading it. I didn't know you were a stepbros fan, I put that in my intro post as well. I also included golfing, maybe we should go gamble on some holes sometime? I do have a hole in one under my bet, so I might have to give you some strokes. Fort Worth is aight but it's no Dallas (but you already knew that). It was great getting to know you and I hope you have an AWESOME semester!!!

    Your Treasurer,
    Brooks

  7. Hey Hayden! I'm from Dallas but I love Fort Worth too! My family loves going to the stock yards and I've been known to frequent Billy Bob's every now and then. I am also a dog parent! I have a ten year old German Shepard mix who is literally my baby. I miss him bunches and since my apartment doesn't allow big dogs I have to leave him back home. It was nice to meet you!

  8. What's up Hayden,

Frat Worth is pretty chill, and I'm a fan of some duck hunting too (but really, dove is much better eating). That's cool that you want to work in real estate, my uncle is pretty successful at it in Austin and my Grandpa worked in corporate real estate all over Texas. I think you'd be great at it. I look forward to reading more of your posts, and you need to put up some pics of that dog.

  9. Hi Hayden!
I am literally watching Friends as I type this. I just let it play on Netflix so I have something on to be background noise. I've seen them all so many times that it doesn't distract me. Usually. There are certain parts that are my absolute favorites and I can't not watch them. I love Indy too. Those movies are so cool. And Duke sounds so cute! I'm sure he misses you bunches!

  10. Hi Hayden!!

It's so nice to meet another fellow Entrepreneurship major! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am. NVD 1 Junior year was the class that really made me realize it was the major for me! I also am from Fort Worth! I love everything about it and always look forward to OU/TX because I stop in Fort Worth to see my family.

I think it's really cool that you're into fishing, hunting, and golf! I've never been able to get any of those hobbies because I don't know anyone who does them!

Wish you the best of luck this semester :)

  11. Hi, Hayden!

From you saying that” you would never find a job that keep you in an office all day”, I can tell that you are a very active and outgoing person I looks like you had a lot of fun last summer. The picture of your fly fishing looks very cool. I’ve been to Texas numerous times, but never had a chance to check out Fort Worth. I should definitely do that next time I go.

  12. Hey Hayden,
It was interesting to read a little bit about you. It seems like you are really interested in the outdoors and love to fish, I can relate. There really is just something therapeutic about fishing. It was really neat to see what you had be up to till this point. Best of luck.

  13. Hey Hayden!

I love Fort Worth. It is a pretty cool place and I have a ton of friends from there. I also was interested in real estate once. It seems like a job that would be really fun because of the freedom you are given. Also, I am definitely a huge fan of Friends as well. You really can’t go wrong with that show. It can always give a good laugh.

  14. Hey Hayden.
I’ve actually only been to Fort Worth to go to museums. As an architecture major we actually went on a field trip to Forth Worth to go look at the architecture of three different museums and it was pretty awesome and we saw the water gardens which were pretty amazing. So it is really cool that it is your home. I hope you have a great rest of the semester.

  15. Hi Hayden!

I really enjoyed reading your introduction. Fort Worth is such a fun city and I understand why you like it so much. I also understand the struggle of not being able to have your dog with you at college. My parents wouldn't let me bring my dog to live with me at college so I have to settle for hanging out with my roommate's dog. I look forward to reading more of your blog!

For this last extra credit reading I read from a group of stories by Rouse. I particularly enjoyed one story called "The Lion and the B...
